Jon Hersel – Director of Strength & Conditioning, Saraland HS

"Sprint, jump, and throw" is the basis of Coach Hersel's philosophy. Coach Hersel was not afraid to go in depth with his program with Coach Moffitt on how he trains his athletes. This episode also discusses the importance of mentors, how Hersel's program is set up, and both coaches' philosophies on training male and female athletes the same way.
Guest Bio:
Jon joined the Saraland High School staff in August of 2017 and could not be happier to be part of the Spartan family. He taught at York Comprehensive High School in York, SC, for three years, where he served as the Head Strength and Conditioning coach for all the sports. Before YCHS, he lived and worked in the Mobile/Baldwin County area for almost 10 years and served as the Associate Head Strength and Conditioning coach at the University of South Alabama. He also was the head Strength Coach at Baldwin County High School and assisted the sports programs at McGill Toolen and Spanish Fort High Schools. Before moving to Alabama, Jon was fortunate to have been part of the Strength and Conditioning staffs at Ole Miss, LSU, the University of Miami, as well as the IMG Sports Academy.
During Jon’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters, Ashley & Emma, as well as going to the beach or competing in CrossFit competitions and OCR races.
